Today all of Isabel’s closest little friends came over, put on some aprons, gathered around a little table to decorate cupcakes and celebrate her turning two! I found some cute little rolling pins a while back for only $1.00 each which got me thinking about doing a baking themed birthday party. With a little newborn coming just a month before her party I decided to start planning a little early which goes against every procrastinating instinct I have in me! I’m so glad I did though because I don’t think I would have been able to pull it off if I hadn’t. We hung the aprons outside and let the kids put them on when they got to the party. It was so cute to see them all dressed in their little matching aprons. They seemed to all have a great time and really enjoy being together. Here are some fun pictures from her special day. There are quite a few pictures, but they were all just too cute not to share! Hope you enjoy.

Update: I wanted to come back on and add a couple of the details from the party in case someone wanted to do something similar and needed some ideas to get started!
I made the aprons from the premiere prints chevron fabric line. I actually already had all of the fabric from making book slings in my etsy shop. The pockets were made out of duck cloth. I just got a new embroidery machine a few months back so I was able to do them all myself which saved quite a bit of money. I think they would still be really cute even if you weren’t able to put the kids names on them though if you were needing to save money somewhere.
Mysewing machine has some decorative stitches on it that I used at the top of the pockets. Hearts for the girls and stars for the boys.
I made bunting out of the scraps from cutting the curve at the top sides of the aprons. It turned out great because it did not require any extra material.

For the kids table I just pushed two benches that me and my dad made a while back to serve as a bench/coffee table. They turned out to be the perfect height for the kids table and I just put an extra piece of fabric I had across the top as a table cloth…it was not hemmed or anything! I don’t think the kids minded though

If the kids had been older I probably would have organized a couple activities, but their ages ranged from 1 month old-3 years so we kept it simple and just had iced undecorated milk, egg, and nut free chocolate cupcakes (due to Isabel’s food allergies) that my mom made and put out cupcake liners with all different shapes and colors of sprinkles inside. We gave the kids some spoons and let them decorate to their hearts desire! It was so fun to watch some just eat spoon fulls of sprinkles while others worked so carefully to decorate the perfect cupcake.

If any of you do baking themed birthday party I would love to hear all about it! I also think I may offer something similar in my etsy shop once I open it back up. I’m thinking apron party pack of 5 aprons monogrammed with the names of your choice?? We will have to wait and see!

What a grand party! That is such a great idea for a themed party. Love the aprons. You are a brave and amazing Mom, Wife, friend and niece! Love and Hugs!
The party was a blast, so glad we were able to be there and be a part of the party. Great job Terri, you are amazing with the week you had to pull this all together. Love You!
Love the pictures. The little aprons are so cute…. Happy Birthday to Isabel.
Thanks Janetta! Thanks for always encouraging my love for sewing and craftiness too.
As I said earlier, I am astounded that you were able to pull together this adorable party with so many personal touches when you have a one month old and a house full of sickness for two weeks! It looks like everyone had a blast. Wish we could have been there.
We definitely wish you all could have been here. It would have been fun to have Lilly and Eliana running around with the rest of them!
