A Trash Truck Birthday

Jackson turns 4 tomorrow and our good friends and neighbors son Caleb turned 1 today so we decided to have a combined party with our weekly playgroup kids this morning. The theme was TRASH TRUCKS! It is hard to believe that it was almost two years ago that Jackson wanted to be a garbage truck for Halloween (we settled on the trash man instead) 029 - Copy (2) Needless to say his love of garbage trucks (really all things manual labor) has continued to flourish. So between, Laura, me, and Pinterest we gave our boys the best garbage party we could come up with. Jackson's Birthday 020 Laura covered the shelves with all non smelly trash we saved for a few days before the party and made these cute little chalk board circles as a banner to hang up. Jackson's Birthday 018 I made some bunting out of empty cereal and cracker boxes sewn on with trash bags cut into strips. Jackson's Birthday 019 Jackson's Birthday 031 My best attempt at a Trash Truck…my cake skills are not the best, but Jackson didn;t seem to mind, especially since it was milk and egg free so that Jackson and Isabel could enjoy a hearty serving! Laura made some “trash can” cup cakes with foil wrappers and overflowing with “trash” so fun! Jackson's Birthday 028 I spray painted some cups from the dollar store and turned a large trash bag into 12 mini ones and Laura found these cute little “trash grabbers” online.Jackson's Birthday 011 Jackson's Birthday 026 Laura found some “trash grabbers” in the sand toys section at Target and we crumpled up newspaper and let them fill the trash can to their hearts delight Jackson's Birthday 024 Jackson's Birthday 035Jackson's Birthday 052
Jackson's Birthday 066Happy Birthday Caleb and Jackson! We love you both so much and are so excited for the men you are becoming. We can’t wait to watch you continue to grow…just don’t do it too fast ;) Jackson's Birthday 070 Laura made their shirts with freezer paper stencils and paint!
Oh, and in the end you can recycle your decorations :) Jackson's Birthday 021
