For the next week and a half Jackson and Isabel are partnering with Mercy Project in a fundraiser for Kids Helping Kids. If you have not heard about Mercy Project you really need to check it out. Our family is very involved with this ministry that is bringing long term sustainable solutions to Ghana Africa on Lake Volta to remove the need for child slavery. There are currently an estimated 7,000 children working as slaves on Lake Volta as fishermen/women slaves. This labor day Mercy Project has gotten kids involved in helping other kids in need. We are so excited about the opportunity to teach our kids that they are never too young to help change the world. In March Michael had the blessing of going to Ghana Africa and meeting some of the kids that work on the lake. This is all very dear to our hearts and we would love for you to partner with our kids as they raise money to help Mercy Project continue in this Kingdom work! The goal is for each child to raise at least $50 and we definitely think this is doable.
I have put together some book bags/totes and hair clips from fair trade Ghanaian fabric purchased in Ghana Africa. Global Mamas is another organization working to empower women and create fair trade beautiful fabric, clothes, bags and so much more. The fabric was purchased from their store in Ghana Africa and I am so excited to get to be able to use it for this.
There are two different bags to choose from one is a light brown with beige, and blue markings on it. The second bag is a nice darker green color with blue and light green designs. The straps are made out of a canvas fabric (purchased in the US) and I have embroidered it to say end slavery.
The second bow is a dark golden yellow color with light grey and beige markings on it it has beige felt petals. (The felt was purchased in the US
The bags as well as bows are a great size for kids but can definitely be used by adults as well. The fabric is batik hand waxed and dyed and made in Ghana Africa (except for the things I said were from the US, felt petals and canvas straps) and were all hand made by me. I have a handful made up and fabric to make more if those sell right away. Like I said before this fundraiser is just lasting about a week and a half so please let me know right away if you are interested! The bags are $15.00 each or 2 for $25.00 and the bows are $5.00 each. If you are local we can just arrange a drop off and if you are out of town shipping will probably be around $5.00. Thanks!
